Ash Hardwood Floors and You

Ash hardwood floors are one of the most sought after tradewoods in North America. It is popular for its satisfactory woodworking characteristics all around. It machines well, sands well, accepts finishes well, and holds nails well with a resistance to splitting. Like similar woods such as Maple and Hickory, Ash is also very durable under stress. It is regularly used for high stress utilities, in items such as baseball bats, tool-handles and other various sports equipments. Ash’s shock resistance is possibly its most popular quality. This teamed with its relative elasticity and inherent hardness makes it a dependable flooring tradewood.

As far as Ash Hardwood Floors goes, the flooring’s color will range from a cream toned sapwood to a light tan to dark brown heartwood. The wood can also appear lustrous and it features a prominent grain that sometimes holds waves. Like all woods Ash will change color over time with exposure to light. It’s change is more subtle than other woods however, its color will alter from its usually cream colored appearance to a darker, more golden or straw colored tone.
