Despite the overall high marks that President Obama’s jobs speech got from most quarters, the National Association of Home Builders found little in the speech to cheer them up. Bob Nielsen, the chairman of the association and a construction business owner in his own right, released a statement that deplored what the NAHB perceives as lack of focus on the role of home builders in the American economy, and a stable economic recovery.

The Association’s statement mentions the fact that in normal times, home building comprises 18% of the national economy, and has an extensive positive impact on local business. Moreover, home building has a large multiplier effect, with the construction of 100 single-family homes being enough to provide jobs for 300 workers, and create tens of millions of dollars’ worth of economic activity.

The NAHB expressed the hope that the Obama administration will do more to spur home construction, as a measure that will help pull the country out of its current economic slump. On our part, as homes are built, Floormall stands ready to deliver high-quality new flooring to construction projects nationwide.
